Message Of Postgraduate Studies At The Armed Forces College Of Medicine

Preparing the student and trainee to become prominent, able to learn and teach others, and to
apply local and international standards in evidence-based medical practice and health care
directed to the needs of patients of the armed forces and the Egyptian and international
community, following the ethics of the profession and the rules of scientific research.

                      

Master's Duration:

The duration of the master’s degree in all disciplines is two academic years and is divided into
two parts, the first part, lasting six months, and the second part, lasting eighteen months, and the
second part includes a research thesis.

Types Of Courses:

All master’s degrees granted by the Armed Forces College of Medicine contain compulsory
courses in the specialty, compulsory courses related to introductory specialization, and elective
courses, which are considered a point of difference for postgraduate degrees in the Armed
Forces College of Medicine. All master's degrees also contain a unique training course, which
takes place in two stages, basic training in the first part and specialized training in the second part.

Distinguishing Elective Courses:

All master’s degrees granted by the Armed Forces College of Medicine contain elective courses,
where the first part includes an elective course in one of the scientific research topics, and the
second part contains elective courses from which the student chooses two courses within a group

 Medical education (level 1)

Quality of healthcare (level 1)

Hospital Administration (Level 1)

This allows developing qualified medical cadres to lead the medical system in the college and in
hospitals in accordance with national and international standards.

Uniqueness Of The Training Courses:

All master’s degrees granted by the Faculty of Medicine in the Armed Forces contain training
courses in the first and second parts, which in total are equal to half the educational load of the
degree. The training course in the first part consists of 14 credit hours and in the second part
from 45 to 55 credit hours according to the specialization. The armed forces are among the
highest outputs that these degrees aim for

 

Number Of Certificates Awarded For Master's Degrees At The Faculty Of Medicine In The Armed Forces:

The Owner Of A Master’s Degree From The College Of Medicine In The Armed Forces Is Granted Three Certificates:

  • Master’s degree certificate: It is a detailed certificate for the master’s degree that contains the grades and the credit hours that have been achieved in all components of the degree, as well as the title of the master’s thesis.
  • Certificate of completion of basic training.
  •  
  • Certificate of completion of specialized training.

Evaluation System:

For each credit hour of the compulsory courses (53) degrees are allocated. There are many

 

evaluation systems for the compulsory courses, between practical/clinical examination, for which the largest percentage is allocated 55%, 25% is allocated for written exams and 15% for continuous assessment, while the oral exams are allocated by only 5%.

Estimated Calculation System:

The postgraduate programs of the Faculty of Medicine in the Armed Forces apply the credit hours system. The Grade Point Average (GPA) and the cumulative grade point average (CGPA) are calculated based on the internationally recognized equations.

The application of the credit hour system allows measuring the burden of programs and courses for academic degrees.

Comparing the number of credit hours for different academic programs and courses.

Facilitating the replacement of credit hours for various academic courses.

Facilitating academic recognition when students transfer from one college to another.

Facilitating the review and application of academic programs and courses.

Facilitate calculating and comparing the credit hours of training programs and courses in
each acquired medical skill.
