AFCM has a strategic plan for capacity building set by the Director of Medical Education and implemented by the Medical Education Hub. It provides many professional and educational development activities, which are based on a needs assessment that is conducted annually. AFCM is currently an accredited CPD provider by the CEMTA and all its courses are accredited. Our ultimate goal is to form a cadre of qualified faculty who can lead a high-quality education process that is mission-sensitive.
Our programs are available to both military and civilian faculty from AFCM and other health professions colleges. Training programs are well designed to meet the institutional and individual needs and cover the educational continuum. The continuum includes one-day workshop, longitudinal training courses, joint international training certificates, and ended with a Master in Medical Education (MEE 801) in collaboration with Michigan State University. MEE 801 is unique and the second worldwide which is EPA-based.
The departments also provide professional development programs in their specialties. Members who are potential to occupy leadership positions are provided the opportunity to be trained in international professional development packages in leadership and management provided by Michigan State University, USA; as well as local leadership training programs in collaboration with Michigan State University partners.
Moreover, internships and fellowships are made available to military staff to reputable hospitals and training centers internationally (USA, Italy, Japan, England, France, etc.; as well the college has an annual “Experts’ Plan” through which reputable international experts were invited to AFCM to train both military and civilian staff as part of the college culture for respecting diversity. The plan is present in the Foreign Affairs Office in AFCM and you can see it during the site visit.
