The participating teams competed to use the latest genetic engineering technologies to find scientific solutions to the problems facing our contemporary world.

The research team at the Faculty of Medicine of the Armed Forces chose to study the problem of chronic asthma, which causes many deaths. The team successfully demonstrated, theoretically and experimentally, the effectiveness of a genetically modified type of bacteria that patients can take through an inhaler used once a year.

The idea, its methodology, and its results were presented to several international experts specialized in this field to assess its feasibility, practicality, and applicability. The concept received wide praise for the high scientific level of the Egyptian team, who were ranked in first   place and awarded the gold medal in recognition of the importance of their idea.
